Therapy services

Starting therapy is a meaningful commitment, and finding the right fit is essential. Instead of an initial consultation, I gather preliminary but general information over email to understand your reasons for seeking therapy and your goals. As you have questions, I can provide details about my approach to help determine whether we may be a good match.

If my services align with your needs and they fall within my areas of competency, we will proceed with detailed intake paperwork via my secure client portal and likely schedule an initial session. If, for any reason, I am unable to effectively address your concerns, I will be happy to offer referrals to other providers who may be a better fit.

In-Person Therapy

I primarily work with teens and adults.

I specialize in ADHD and Thanatology (grief and loss). I hold a certification in ADHD and have extensive training and experience in Thanatology.

I am passionate about supporting people of all ages through grief and loss, including clients and caregivers navigating end-of-life processes and anticipatory grief.

ADHD is my newest area of focus, particularly in helping never-before-diagnosed adults address facets of executive dysfunction.

Additionally, I often incorporate boundary work, self-care, and work/life balance education into my work with clients alongside their primary concerns. These concerns range from anxiety and depression symptoms to life transitions, relationship and family dynamics, and work or school challenges.

I am also a sex-positive counselor and welcome clients who create their own meaning in their relationships.

Teletherapy

Advantages of teletherapy

  • Convenience and flexibility in time and place
  • Increased accessibility to care for under-served populations in rural areas
  • Flexibility during times of illness or other limiting factors when in-person is not appropriate or available
  • Continuity and consistency of care, fewer missed sessions
  • Potential cost savings in time away from work, travel time, and gas.

Additional notes: I am licensed to practice in Oregon and Washington, which means that clients are required to be in either Oregon or Washington during telehealth sessions.

Payments

Insurance

I am currently an active in-network provider with many plans under Providence, Regence, PacificSource, United/Optum, and Moda. Please note that while I may be considered in-network with other insurance panels (e.g., Medicare, Cigna, EAPs, etc.), I am not currently accepting new clients with these plans.

If you plan to use insurance for your therapy sessions, please provide your insurance information before your first visit so that we can verify coverage. While I make every effort to verify benefits before our first session, it is ultimately your responsibility to confirm that your insurance covers outpatient mental health services and to be aware of your copay/coinsurance amounts.

For out-of-network insurance companies, I may request that you pay the full session fee upfront. You can then seek reimbursement directly from your insurer. If your insurance company does not reimburse the provider directly, I will provide you with the necessary documentation for you to submit for reimbursement.

I am also happy to provide receipts for any payments made, which you can submit to your insurance company or other third parties for direct reimbursement.

Copays/Coinsurance (out of pocket)

Your insurance provider determines the amount of your copay, coinsurance, and deductibles. As an in-network provider, I am contractually obligated to collect these fees at the time of service. Please be prepared to pay your copay or coinsurance at each session, as determined by your insurance plan.

If you have any questions about your copay or coinsurance, I encourage you to contact your insurance provider directly to confirm your financial responsibilities.

Note: Except in cases of illness or accident, if you cancel your appointment with less than 24 hours’ notice, you will be responsible for the full session fee. This includes both your copay/coinsurance and what your insurer would have paid.

If you arrive late or leave early for your session, the session will be charged at a prorated rate based on the actual time spent in session, as insurers do not cover time that the client is not in session.
