Therapy is a partnership. The purpose of the initial consultation is to get to know one another before making this commitment. It is not a traditional therapy session. We will briefly discuss reasons for which you seek services and your goals for therapy and I will provide additional information about my style of practice. After this initial consultation, we will make a decision about whether I will be able to effectively address your needs and determine if this partnership will be beneficial for you. If we determine that we may not be a good match at this time, I will be happy to offer referrals to alternate therapists.
There are about 20-25 issues (i.e. custody, marital home, assets, debts, etc.) that need to be addressed and agreed upon for an uncontested dicorce (aka: simple divorce). We will go through each of the issues in one hour sessions, usually about 2-4 sessions, until all issues have been addressed and agreed upon. The goal of mediation is to achieve a 100% agreement on relevant issues pertaining to a divorce or custody modification and I work equally for all parties involved in the mediation.
My fee is $225 per hour-long session and the preparation of the written Memorandum of Understanding (the agreement) is $300. Each party will receive an original copy of the document at our last session. I do not charge for this last session, as it is spent primarily reviewing and signing the document.
